About Dr. Kathryn Urquhart, ND
My journey in naturopathic medicine began early on, although I didn’t quite realize it at the time. I grew up as a very active child and have fond memories of spending endless hours playing outside with friends. I have always loved being outside in nature as it has a very grounding effect on me. In my adolescence, I became a dedicated athlete, where childish play turned into competitive sports - mostly basketball and volleyball. This is the point I took a keen interest in health, as I quickly realized the impact it had on my athletics. Nutrition, sleep, and physical training became key aspects of my life because I saw such a direct benefit in my health and performance.
Naturally, I went onto study Human Kinetics (BSc) at St. FX University, which further nourished my passion for health. It was here where I truly discovered Naturopathic Medicine. The philosophy and principles of Naturopathic Medicine immediately hit home for me, as they already seemed to be underlying values in my life. In my heart, I instantly felt this was the right path for me and knew it would lead to a fulfilling life.
Now, in addition to my practice and business, family is extremely important to me! You will see, my husband, Braden, and son, Henry, are common fixtures around Bedford Naturopathic Clinic. I am happiest outside – either at the beach, walking in the woods, or simply just having my bare feet in the grass. I love being active and experimenting in the kitchen. I live for the simple things in life.
We all have an innate healing ability within us, and I want to help you find it! Together we will find balance within your body, mind, and spirit, so that you can experience true health. We will create a treatment plan unique to you and your lifestyle to ensure you can follow through. I am so passionate about empowering you to find your optimal lifestyle and helping you have an authentic, happy, and fulfilling life!
As a naturopathic doctor, I have a general family practice and welcome patients of all ages. I have a special interest in women’s health, pregnancy, pediatrics, weight loss, stress, burn out, fatigue, digestion, and allergies.
I’ve personally had struggles in all these areas myself, and know how much they can affect your life. I am currently the bumpy road of motherhood and raising a healthy family (while running Bedford Naturopathic)! I definitely had my fair share of pregnancy struggles – hello debilitating fatigue, nausea and vomiting! I know what it feels like to hit rock bottom and be totally exhausted, anxious, and stressed out – hello burn out (adrenal fatigue)! Unbalanced hormones can take the life out of you, as can poor digestion and allergies! Luckily, I’ve made it through all these struggles and came out stronger and happier than ever, and I want the same for you! You are not alone, your struggles are real, and I want to help you overcome them like I did, so you can be truly comfortable in your own skin and be the rock star you were meant to be!
I can’t wait to sit down and get to know you. I want to hear your story. I want to understand you and help you along your journey to optimal health and becoming your true authentic self!
